What is the spiritual emphasis of Deer Creek?

At Deer Creek, our emphasis is teaching biblical truths and sharing the Gospel. Whether campers are hearing about Jesus for the first time, diving deeper into their relationship with God, or asking questions, our staff is trained and passionate about walking alongside them.

We respect the role you play as the guide of your camper and will always seek to be a partner with you in his or her development. All decisions your camper makes at camp will be communicated to you, so you can follow up as needed.

How do I register a camper?

You'll be prompted to create an account and apply for a camp program designed for the age of your camper. Once an application has been received we'll confirm availabilty for that week and enroll your camper. No charges will be made to your card unless your camper application is approved and your camper is enrolled.

What does the price of camp include?

The prices of camp include just about everything your camper needs while at camp; food, lodging, and a ton of adventuring experiences! The only additional expense is spending money for the camp store, coffee shop, and smoothie bar.

What is your staff to camper ratio?

Summer weeks range between 75-150 campers per session, and the staff to camper ratio is 1:5.

How do you hire summer staff?

We hire mature Christian staff who model a Godly lifestyle we hope campers will want to follow.

We have relationships with several large Texas churches and university ministries that help recommend summer staff to us. We personally interview and prayerfully consider each staff application that we receive. Before hiring, all must sign a statement of belief, complete an extensive background check, and provide us with at least three references.

Will my child be safe at camp?

We know that your child’s safety is top priority, and it’s absolutely ours too.

We’ve prioritized the creation and execution of responsible guidelines to protect campers. We work hard to uphold the requirements of the CCCA (Christian Camping Conference Association), and we maintain high standards to keep all campers safe.

What if I need to cancel registration?

The $200 deposit is a non-refundable deposit payment but can be applied to another camper in the immediate family or rolled over to the following year. If a camper is unable to attend or requests to cancel prior to their camp date their tuition payments will be refunded.

How many campers stay in a cabin together?

Deer Creek Camp enjoys 20 charming and rustic wood-frame cabins, each with its own air conditioning and heating. Typically we place between 8-12 campers per cabin. Our cabins provide comfortable accommodations with an adventurous feel.

How do you handle medication at camp?

Medications are administered by our camp nurse and medical staff. Upon arrival all medications are turned in to our medical team in a clear plastic bag with instructions for dosage amounts. For safety concerns campers aren't allowed to keep medications in their room or bag with the exception being inhalers. The camp medical station is well stocked and staff is well trained to handle the scrapes and bruises that come with camp life.

What's a day at camp like?

An absolute blast!

We start the day with a delicious breakfast in the Great Hall, followed by a message and/or devotionals, and prayer. After that, we will have our first round of camp tribe competition. Next, campers can choose their favorite camp activities... i.e. archery, cooking, soccer, outdoor adventure.

After lunch and a short cabin rest break, the afternoon is jam-packed with camp games and adventures, from ropes courses to water activities. The pool, riverfront, and water slide are open for some free time fun as well. Campers enjoy playing pool volleyball, zooming down the water slide, canoeing, and getting some refreshments at our in-house coffee shop and smoothie bar.

Dinner is shared either poolside, on the patio, or down by the river and afterwards we'll have one more round of tribe games before worship and an evening service.

After a full day, campers get cleaned up for bed and have conversations about the day's devotional, celebrate the victories, and laugh at the falls. Campers can't get to comfortable because at any moment they could be surprised with a late night game or mission when they least expect it!
