Parent Information
Cabins are climate-controlled, and each has a porch or patio area for Bible study time. Bathhouses are clean and modern with warm water for daily showers.
Specialty Classes- Campers may choose 2 Classes from football, basketball, soccer, baseball, softball, volleyball, photography, dance, drama, swimming for non-swimmers, outdoor wilderness, Around The Horn (different sport daily), or Round Robin (different class daily). Specialty counselors are hired to coach these classes so that campers gain skills and confidence in their desired specialty.
Activity Periods- Cabins rotate together through a series of high and low ropes, adventure based, and teambuilding activities that we feel are age appropriate for campers in that cabin. We teach them realistic goal setting and give them something to look forward to next summer through our program.
Medical Staff consists of mom and dad volunteers who are RN or MD professionals. We have an EMS station within 2 miles and medical facilities in Bandera and Kerrville. Any medicine your child takes regularly is dispensed by these professionals daily.
Staff Ratio: Our 60 mentors are recruited from over 15 different Colleges and Universities and are hired from over 150 candidates so we are confident we offer the best 1:4 staff to camper ratio around. A mandatory 2 week Training Camp before you arrive helps us create an excellent team of committed, Christian mentors for your campers.
Menues are kid friendly and your child will have a variety to choose from at each meal. Salad bars are available at lunch and evening meals. Non-sugar drinks are served at each meal with milk and juice provided for breakfast. Picnics and hamburger cookouts dot the schedule and peanut butter and jelly is available as a back up measure. Afternoon treats are handed out to all campers, but candy and soft drinks are left off the menu. Campfires include marshmallow and s’more surprises. Fresh fruit is available at all times and we will be glad to accommodate any special dietary need of your child.
Parent Information Packets - Registered summer camp families will receive information packets in the spring with packing lists, medical forms, closing ceremony instructions, detailed maps, and theme night information.
Location-Location-Location:Camp is located in the Texas Hill Country, along the banks of the Medina River with 110 acres of playing fields and fun. Drive time from San Antonio is one hour and a little more than two hours from Austin. We offer shuttle service to and from the San Antoio Airport for those coming from across and out of the country.
Summer temperatures are about 5 degrees cooler than San Antonio. Special consideration is given to hydrate campers and to keep plenty of sunscreen and water available during the summer.
Leadership Legacy – This class is part of our High School Program that embodies all the action packed activities, high adventure thrills and surprises of the two-week terms plus Leadership Training in a Christian Summer Camp setting.
- This program will empower young people and encourage them to take responsibility for their lives and the future of our communities.
- Campers will become more self reliant and work interdependently on a team. They will develop listening, goal setting, negotiation and problem solving skills.
- Our goal is to equip campers to become more confident, flexible and sure of themselves with teachers, parents, advisors, and coaches.
Bear Tribe Competition. Campers are "initiated" onto a Bear Tribe when they get to camp. Boys become either Polar of Grizzley Bears and girls become either Sugar or Honey Bears. Once they are on a team they are in it for life! Campers participate in friendly competition daily to see which team will win bragging rights until the next summer.
