One of the many blessings of Deer Creek Camp
As we prepare for the last two weeks of regular adventure camp, I can’t help but think about all the wonderful blessings that have been bestowed upon Deer Creek Camp this summer. We have been very blessed to have an amazing staff. As each new term starts it becomes harder to say “see ya later”. We have had a wonderful turn out of campers, a large number of them returners. We always like to say that friends bring friends to camp, and that has proven to be true. It has been a joy to see siblings, cousins, best friends, and new friends come together to grow in knowledge and love of our savior Jesus Christ.
Watching the campers develop different skills during the past one/two weeks has been a humbling experience for each staff member. We have seen them compete in Bear Competition with their whole hearts, exemplifying the three things that Bear Comp is all about: teamwork, tribe spirit, and sportsmanship.
The Amazing Race is only an hour away. It will be the last time the campers have to compete in Bear Competition before they leave camp tomorrow morning. The Amazing Race, an all camp relay race, has become one of the most anticipated events by the returning campers. They can’t wait until Friday to run the race that has been set before them. At the end of the Amazing Race, after we have seen amazing sportsmanship and team spirit, we are reminded that we are all on God’s team, and His team is the only team we want to be a part of. Whether they are Grizzly, Sugar, Polar, or Honey bears, they know that their tribe colors fade, but God will never fade away. We run the race for Him. What an incredible way to end SBTW3 and AC6.
